This class is designed to focus on teaching basics cues only. Class topics may include the following\, but are often tailored to individual classes. This class meets once a week for four weeks. \n\nUnderstanding canine behavior and communication.\nBasic cues (sit\, name\, down\, polite greetings\, etc)\nIntroduction to loose leash walking\nNeutral exposure to distractions\nIntroduction to foundational cues for daily life\nProblem solving and prevention\nGraduation certificate\n\nFees\n$100\, 4 sessions of 50-minute lessons. \nNote about Treats\nThe best way to train your pet is through the proper use of positive reinforcement and rewards. Please bring plenty of high-value treats to class\, such as cut-up hot dogs\, cheese\, chicken\, and chewy training treats. Small\, bite-sized treats in a pouch or bag. \nVACCINATION RECORDS – All adult dogs are required to be date on both distemper (DHPP/DHLPP) and rabies vaccines. Puppies are required to have age appropriate vaccinations based on veterinarian recommendation. Bordetella is highly recommended. \nYour pet’s records need to be received prior to class start.\nPlease email your dogs vaccination records to dogtraining@arl-iowa.org\nPlease have the owner’s name\, the dog’s name and the class dates clearly identified. \nDOG POLICIES – Females currently “IN HEAT” (estrus day 1 – day 21) are not allowed in classes. Come once\, or as often as you’re able! An ARL instructor will be available to answer any questions you have or give you help as needed. All dogs will be taught in a humane manner using positive reinforcement methods. This class is limited to 4 dogs. \nFees\n$30 per class\, includes a clicker for training. This class will focus on addressing high emotional arousal and overstimulation-type behaviors such as jumping\, mouthing\, body slamming\, and an overall lack of regulation.  Class topics may include the following\, but are often tailored to individual classes. This class meets once a week for four weeks. \n\nUnderstanding canine behavior and communication.\nEnsuring appropriate outlets for mental/physical needs\nGo to Place\nPolite Greetings\nMental vs. physical enrichment and how they play a role in arousal and coping\nWait/Leave it\nProblem solving and prevention\n\nFees\n$100\, 4 sessions of 50-minute lessons. \nNote about Treats\nThe best way to train your pet is through the proper use of positive reinforcement and rewards. Please bring plenty of high-value treats to class\, such as cut-up hot dogs\, cheese\, chicken\, and chewy training treats.
